No — Pawpilot requires a license key to run. You can try the companion free in your browser on the Playground page; when you're ready, a key is $5.99 one-time, emailed instantly, and always retrievable from your account page. There's a 14-day refund window if it's not for you.

Which platforms are supported?

macOS (Apple Silicon & Intel via a .dmg — a native menu-bar app) and Windows 10/11 (.exe, built with Tauri). Both keep themselves up to date automatically — Sparkle on macOS, the Tauri updater on Windows. The builds are currently unsigned, so you'll see a one-time security prompt — the Docs page walks you through it.

Does it phone home or track me?

Accepted Answer

No telemetry, no analytics, ever. Everything's offline — except the optional Custom Companion add-on, which talks to our server only when you generate a companion or check your credits, and never sends anything else. Your license key itself is still verified offline on your machine.

How does the license work across devices?

Accepted Answer

One key activates every machine you own. Keys are Ed25519-signed and verified offline, so activation works even with no internet.

Will it slow my computer down?

Accepted Answer

No — it's a small pixel sprite drawn by a native app (Swift on macOS, Tauri on Windows — no Electron runtime), animating a few hundred pixels at a steady frame rate.
