Custom Companion isn't just cats and dogs anymore. Upload a photo of a person and your companion comes to life as a little pixel human — your colors, your hair, your vibe — living on your desktop with the same 17 moods, cursor-follow, and agent reactions.

• The pet tells you about updates. When a new version is ready, your companion holds up a sign — tap it to update. No more hunting through menus.
• Cross-device sync. A companion generated anywhere (web, another Mac) appears here and offers to move in.
• Real generation, honestly labeled. The Companion Studio now says plainly what it does today (matches your photo's colors) — and a full AI likeness engine is wired and waiting to switch on.
• More settings — sound volume, Pomodoro work/break lengths, stretch-reminder timing, and a daily reminder now live in Settings.

PawPilot 0.3.1 — Signed, Sealed, Delivered

The headline this time isn't a feature. It's a certificate.

No more right-click-to-open 🔏

PawPilot is now signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple — no more Gatekeeper right-click-to-open dance. Download it, double-click it, and your Mac just... trusts it. The way it always should have.

Under the hood: every build is signed with a Developer ID Application certificate, submitted to Apple's notary service, and stapled before it ships. Gatekeeper checks it, likes what it sees, and gets out of the way.

Everything else

Same Companion Studio feature set as 0.3.0 — upload a photo, get a pixel-art companion wearing your pet's face, adopt it for good. No new features, no behavior changes. This release is entirely about the seal on the box, not what's inside it.

The boring but important part

No telemetry, no phone-home, still fully offline for licensing. Auto-update via Sparkle continues to work for anyone already on 0.2.x/0.3.x.

PawPilot 0.3.0 — Companion Studio

Your pet can finally look like your pet.

Companion Studio 🎨

Got a photo of your actual cat, dog, or whatever weird little guy lives on your desk? Feed it to your pet. Companion Studio (tray → Companion Studio…) turns any photo into a pixel-art companion rendered right through PawPilot's own palette engine — same sprite, same animations, just wearing your pet's face.

• Upload a Photo… — pick a PNG/JPEG/WebP (up to 10MB), PawPilot uploads it and brews you a preview using the exact recolor pipeline behind Settings' custom colors.
• Adopt locks it in — your companion keeps the look for good, even offline, even after a restart.
• It's a one-time $10 add-on, generated straight from Settings — no subscription, no "renew your face" nonsense.
• Don't have the add-on? You'll see a clean upsell, not a paywall wall. No prices shoved in your face inside the app, ever.
• Bad photo, no credits left, or offline? You get a real, specific reason — not a scary red HTTP error.

Fixes

• Battery fix: the clock was pausing when your pets were hidden. Adding a new mascot while your existing pets were hidden used to leave the new one frozen solid — statue mode — until you toggled Show/Hide. Now "Add Mascot" while hidden just un-hides everyone and gets the clock running again, like it should've all along.
• Settings got an audit. We went through every single control in Settings and checked it actually does what it says. Found and fixed one real bug: "Launch at Login" could silently drift out of sync with what macOS actually had configured (say, if you removed the login item yourself) — it now checks the real system state every time you open the panel instead of trusting a stale default.
• Companion entitlement checks got stricter. The "do you own the add-on" check now requires the exact +companion tier segment instead of a loose substring match — closes off a theoretical false-positive on some future tier name.
